Chef Gordon Ramsay recently experienced a frightening biking accident that left him severely bruised.
Over Father's Day weekend, the renowned chef and TV personality took to social media to emphasize the importance of wearing a helmet. The Hell’s Kitchen chef detailed the harrowing incident that required medical attention, admitting he felt “lucky to be here.”
“With #FathersDay tomorrow, I have a very important message for all the dads out there…WEAR A HELMET!” Ramsay captioned his post, which displayed a significant bruise.
“This week, I had a really bad accident while riding my bike in Connecticut. I’m doing okay and didn’t break any bones or suffer any major injuries, but I am quite bruised up, looking like a purple potato,” he continued.
“I’m grateful to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London who cared for me and checked me out. But most of all, I’m thankful for my helmet, which saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and be safe. Gx.”
In a video he shared, Ramsay reiterated, “The surgeons, doctors, and nurses in the hospital were incredible. But honestly, you’ve got to wear a helmet. I don’t care how short the journey is or the cost of these helmets—they are crucial. Even for short trips with kids, they must wear a helmet.
“Now, I’m fortunate to be standing here. I’m in pain, it’s been a brutal week, but I’m getting through it.”
Fans quickly responded with well-wishes.
“I thought it might have been a small crash, but that bruise says otherwise! Glad you’re doing okay,” one person wrote. Another added, “I’m very glad we didn’t lose this legend. Thank you for spreading awareness, Gordon. We need more people promoting health and safety. Proud of you.”
We are relieved that Chef Ramsay didn’t suffer more serious injuries.
