A Tribute From Denise Alexander

Jacklyn Zeman, known for her 45-year portrayal of Bobbie Spencer on ABC's General Hospital, has passed away at the age of 70. Reports indicate that she battled cancer briefly before her sudden death.

The news was announced by the show's executive producer, Frank Valentini. "I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Jackie Zeman," he shared on Twitter. "Like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and a true professional, bringing positive energy to her work."

ABC Entertainment and General Hospital also released a statement: "Jacklyn Zeman has been a cherished member of the General Hospital and ABC family since she began playing the iconic role of Bobbie Spencer over 45 years ago. Her Emmy-nominated portrayal of the bad girl turned heroine leaves a lasting legacy. She will be remembered for her kind heart and radiant spirit. We are deeply saddened by her passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to Jackie's family, friends, and loved ones."

Zeman joined the cast of the long-running daytime drama in 1977, according to IMDb.

Her passing came just three days before her birthday and less than two weeks after her final episode of General Hospital, which aired on April 27.

Denise Alexander, Zeman's co-star, shared a heartfelt tribute: "Oh girl, I can't stop crying because I keep hearing your voice and laughing. I've always loved and cherished your sweetness, humor, brilliance, and lovely goodness. The finest embraces, too. I will always love you."

Laura Wright, who played Carly Spencer, Zeman's character's daughter on the show, expressed her sorrow on Instagram: "I'm so grateful I got to spend so much time with this lovely woman. Jackie had the best stories, a contagious spirit, and such a remarkable life. She loved working on General Hospital."

Tamara Braun also paid tribute, saying, "I am at a loss for words. This hurts and disturbs me beyond words. I wish to hug you. Join us in our laughter. Tell stories. Talk real talk because that's what we did."

Jacklyn Zeman is survived by her two daughters, Cassidy and Lacey, from her first marriage to Glenn Gordon. She was also married and divorced two more times, to Steve Gribbin and disc jockey Murray Kaufman, known as "Murray the K."

Rest in peace, Jacklyn Zeman. You will be deeply missed.
