The world was left in shock and mourning upon hearing the news of Shannen Doherty’s passing. The beloved Charmed star, who was 53, had bravely battled cancer for the past seven years.
Before her tragic passing, Doherty shared a heartfelt post online. Throughout her illness, she often provided updates on her health. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Doherty revealed she had 'invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node.'
Following numerous surgeries and treatments, the 90210 star went into remission. Unfortunately, the cancer later returned. In 2020, she shared the devastating news of her stage four breast cancer diagnosis, indicating the disease had spread to various parts of her body.
By 2023, Doherty confirmed that the cancer had metastasized to her brain and bones, necessitating surgery to remove 'almost all' of the brain tumor.
In her final social media post, the actress shared a clip from the Let’s Be Clear podcast on her Instagram page.

“For the first time in I have no idea how long, I’m going to be on chemo. I don’t know if it’s going to be three months or six months, or if we’ll need to change treatments after three months if it’s not working,” she said in the clip.
“I can’t predict that, and neither can my doctors. It’s scary. It’s a big wake-up call, but at the same time, there’s some positivity because my cancer cells’ molecular structure recently changed, meaning there are more treatment protocols for me to try. So, for the first time in a couple of months, I feel hopeful because of these new options.”
Doherty’s death was confirmed on July 14 by her friend and publicist, Leslie Sloane.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, surrounded by her loved ones and her dog, Bowie. The family requests privacy during this time to grieve in peace.”
We are deeply saddened by this loss. May she rest in peace.
