Theresia Fischer, a 31-year-old model from Germany, recently shared the harsh realities and lasting effects of a unique and extreme operation she underwent. Influenced by her ex-partner, Theresia chose to have a leg-lengthening surgery at the age of 24. Initially standing at 5'6", she now stands over six feet tall, but the journey to reach this height was far from easy.
The procedure involved inserting adjustable telescopic rods into her shins, which were gradually extended to increase her leg length. Theresia described the grueling experience, revealing that her shins were deliberately broken and her calf muscles were split to make room for the rods.
"The shin bone is broken cleanly, the calf muscles are split, and a telescopic rod is used in each case," she explained. "You stretch your lower legs independently by holding your knee with one hand and screwing your foot inward with the other hand until it clicks. Ten clicks a day on each side bring an additional 0.5 millimeters [0.02 inches]."
The physical pain and emotional toll of the surgery have left Theresia with deep scars. Despite these hardships, she has managed to build a substantial following on social media, boasting more than 142,000 followers on Instagram and over 200,000 on TikTok. Her candidness about her experience has resonated with many, offering a glimpse into the extreme lengths some go to for self-confidence.
In 2019, Theresia expressed satisfaction with the results of the surgery, citing it as a boost to her self-confidence after enduring bullying during her teens. She also mentioned that the surgery had a significant impact on her personal life, including her sex life.
Theresia Fischer's story is a powerful reminder of the lengths people go to change their bodies and the complex emotions and consequences that come with such decisions. Through her openness, she continues to inspire and challenge societal norms, advocating for self-acceptance and the courage to share one's truth.
