Since the invention of the telephone, people have been able to communicate across vast distances. Today, it doesn't matter if someone is on the other side of the world—connecting with them is easier than ever, just a few clicks away.
However, let's be honest—talking over the phone will never quite match the experience of a face-to-face conversation. Communication is more than just words; it includes facial expressions and other non-verbal cues.
This story perfectly illustrates that point, and it's sure to bring a smile to your face.
"Hello?" "Hi, sweetheart. It's Daddy. Is Mommy near the phone?"
"No, Daddy. She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Paul."
After a brief pause, Daddy says, "But honey, you don't have an Uncle Paul."
"Oh yes I do! He's upstairs in the room with Mommy right now."
Another brief pause. "Okay, this is what I want you to do. Put the phone down, run upstairs, knock on the bedroom door, and tell Mommy that Daddy's car just pulled into the driveway."
"Okay, Daddy, just a minute." A few minutes later, the little girl returns to the phone. "I did it, Daddy."
"And what happened, sweetheart?" he asked.
"Well, Mommy got really scared, jumped out of bed without any clothes on, and started screaming. Then she tripped over the rug, hit her head on the dresser, and now she isn't moving at all!"
"Oh my God! What about Uncle Paul?"
"He jumped out of bed without any clothes on, too. He was really scared and jumped out of the back window into the swimming pool. But I guess he didn't know you drained the water last week to clean it. He hit the bottom, and I think he's dead."
Long Pause
Finally, Daddy says, "Swimming pool? ... Is this 486-5731?"
