‘America’s Got Talent’ Cheerleader Emily Gold, 17, Dies by Suicide Weeks After Appearing on Show

Emily Gold, a 17-year-old dancer and cheerleader from Los Osos High School, passed away just weeks after her team advanced to the quarterfinals on America’s Got Talent.

During the competition, Gold and her dance troupe wowed the judges and received a standing ovation from Simon Cowell for their remarkable quarterfinal performance.

On Friday, September 13, Gold was tragically found deceased under a bridge on the 210 Highway in Rancho Cucamonga. The San Bernardino Coroner's Office suspects suicide, and authorities confirmed she was struck by a vehicle. A GoFundMe page was launched to support her family, which has raised over $75,000 to date.

Rodrigo Jimenez, Public Information Officer for the California Highway Patrol, told People magazine that officers from the Rancho Cucamonga division responded to a report of a pedestrian down in traffic lanes. Upon arrival, they discovered a 17-year-old girl who had been struck by at least one vehicle in the carpool lane on eastbound 210. The victim was later identified as Emily Gold, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
